Logan’s vision for the Westland district Mayoralty campaign

Vision For the Westland District/Region

The west coast is a region where we believe the individual has been given the authority by God to determine their own futures and no individual or entity has the right to detain, hinder, or interfere in their lives if they are not molesting any other individual’s rights.

I see a unified people with one culture the Kiwi culture; this culture speaks English as the common tongue and Maori as a respected tongue which we all participate in as much or as little as the individual desires to create a bond and demonstrate that where there were many peoples now there is one.

We are a decentralised people living in villages, where the people empower their governments to act on their behalf, transparency from governments is the cornerstone to our constitutional confederacy, the people are the ones to making decisions and government is there only to complete the act.

The guiding foundation of our constitutional confederacy is that any decision voted on by the majority must be made with the ability for the minority to live with the decision; this is what creates a free and fair society we not only live in, but thrive in, each village shall plan with the vision of the next two generations ensuring that they have an inheritance, thus enabling them to be free and have an equal starting point to which they can challenge, strive and improve the individual, people, place and culture.

This is all going to be achieved when I enact with the help of the elected Councillors:
• Freezing of rate increases for the next three years
• Work with the other councils to amalgamate
• Audit and restructure of council to perform basic functions
• Enact a constitution, voted on by the people with the right of recall, veto and binding referendum being the basis of the document
• Stimulate the local economy with a detailed plan
• Fight 1080, which will involve pushing back on DOC and their management of our region

I cannot do this alone; this will take everyone on the coast to participate, this will be our chance to practice we not me.
