Politics has gotten very messy over the years and has many meanings (you could be forgiven for thinking that this was all part of the plan), this page will try and act as a plain dictionary, if we have missed something or you don’t think a definition is quite right please contact us and we can try and sort it out, thanks in advance and we hope you find this useful.
Constitutional Monarchy; We the people vote in a government but we still have a monarch (king or queen) that rules us.
Confederacy; We the people vote in a federal government to manage the affairs of the country but we have ultimate control through Direct democracy as people vote at all three levels of government; Confederacy, Region, Village.
Governor General; the person representing the monarch which signs acts into law that have been passed by the elected government.
Council Controlled Organisation (CCO); A company that is performing a task/duty on behalf of Local Government which has a board to ensure the entity is using public money responsibly, the CCO is ultimately responsible to the Mayor.
Council Trading Organisation (CTO); a company that has been tasked with making a profit and passing this onto Local Government.
Persons Conducting Business or Undertaking (PCBU); anyone who is running a business or charity.
Third Party Contractors; A company performing work on behalf of a government (central or local).
Principle Contractors; A company managing other companies performing multiple tasks for a government agency
Local Government; Any Council (Regional or District), this does include Boards which are set up in small population areas to help Councillors to form decisions.
Village; In the Decentralised model it is the smallest form of government, it is a shire, borough, suburb any local area that is made up of 10 to 250 people, they each vote a leader to represent them.
Region; In the Decentralised model it is a collection of Villages, these villages have a leader which has been voted on by the villages, they then vote a federal representative for the federal parliament, each Region can consolidate or divide based on a referendum, the average size is between 10,000 and 100,000 people, this can also be dependent on geographical locations.
Right of Recall; this is the authority held by the people to remove someone elected to office who is not performing the task appropriately/poorly or has not performed their election promises, this is performed by Binding partition, obtaining signatures from 50% of the voting public is the norm.
Binding Petition; A written demand with the collection of signatures from the public demanding an action or change.
Veto; In the Decentralised model a veto is when the people collect at a local level, signatures from 50% of the voting population, at the federal level it is 100,000 votes.
Federal Referendum; A vote on the Federal constitution by the people.
Regional Referendum; A vote on the Federal laws by the people.
Democracy; A formal decision made by the majority of a population and in the decentralised model the aim is to make the decision effective enough so that the minority can live with the outcome.
Foreigner; Any person who is not a NZ Citizen.
Citizen(Kiwi); First part, any person who is born in NZ or any Kiwi who is born in the wrong place who moves to NZ to become a citizen, the Second part of a Kiwi Citizen is anyone who desires to integrate into the pre-existing mono-culture of New Zealand; we speak one common language, we believe that we are all equal and wish to make New Zealand a more resilient place; where our economy is strong and we have the authority over New Zealand.
Permanent Resident; Someone who is on their path to becoming a Kiwi Citizen, everyone else is a guest.
Economy; A financial circle where money or currency of any type circulate from one person/s or entity to another to improve everybody lives within this community.
Velocity of money; The speed of the money moving within the economy.
